Hinge and lively; the two popular dating apps have rolled out for video support in their application this week.
Featuring video in the social apps like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat is the new trend. Now the dating apps are also opting for the video format in their applications.
The hinge will now allow its users to add a video in their user profile to augment their personality. A user can add a video of 30 seconds by extracting the videos already existing in their website. Users cannot take the front-facing video only the prerecorded or previously shared on Instagram or Facebook videos can be uploaded.
As per the Hinge CEO Justin McLeod, “On Hinge, we encourage our members to be authentic with one another because we know that leads to the best connections. Our profiles already do a great job, but video creates the opportunity for our members to learn about potential matches in a way that simply can’t be captured by still photos and text.”
On the other hand, lively is capitalizing the video feature to bring more people into the app. Live;y has pushed the limits of the term “video” in its app by providing live video chats. The best feature of lively is the blur option.
A user can start a live video session with a blurred screen that will eventually fade away after 40 seconds. This allows the users to get comfortable without having to worry about how they look like. If they want; they can tap “add blur” to remain hidden after 40 seconds.
