GITEX Dubai IT Tradeshow
A brief on the 26 Industry Specifics of GITEX.

You name it, Dubai has it. If it doesn’t, then it’s building it.

GITEX has always been a revolutionary event in terms of technological advancements in the Middle East. GITEX has given many startups a global stage to present their products and services, prepping today’s industries for the future.

It’s the place where you can see the world’s future ideas live in action; technologies like Blockchain and AI go beyond being buzzwords. In Dubai, all these innovations become business realities. Here industries evolve in real-time.

This year we will be seeing the largest of IT tradeshow in all of Middle East, Africa, and Asia at the 39th GITEX Technology Week.

The event will be happening as always in the magnificent city of Dubai at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC, Dubai). With more than 100,000 visitors from 140+ countries, GITEX Dubai 2019 will be the most happening event for Technology industries. GITEX Dubai 2019 is from 06th to 10th October.

This year’s theme for GITEX Technology Week 2019 is “Synergising the Mind and Technology Economy.”

Who should attend GITEX 2019?

Short answer: Anyone who has anything to do with technology.

Long answer: The Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (aka GITEX) is an all-inclusive IT tradeshow with 26 different industry technologies like Artificial Intelligence, IoT, AR/VR, etc. So anyone who works with these technologies, uses such products or is merely interested in such future techs can attend GITEX 2019.

  • Investors

  • Technology Experts and Delegates
  • Professors/Students
  • Technology Enthusiasts

There will be many verticals to discuss and showcase on each day of this weeklong event ranging from Retail, Finance, eCommerce, Smart Construction, Healthcare, Smart cities, Energy, Education, Digital Marketing, and Logistics.

What Verticals will be Prominent at GITEX 2019?

To give you a detailed understanding of each vertical, we would be splitting this blog into multiple parts. So, let’s start with Future Innovation technologies.

Artificial Intelligence

AI has always been a fascinating and coveted piece of technology chased by several tech enthusiasts.

When it comes to Artificial Intelligence, the curiosity bug has bitten many big names like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Stephen Hawkins. They’ve spent millions behind the research and development of the perfect AI System.

Recent researches prove that we’re finally getting close to making True AI a reality. With Sophia (has citizenship of Saudi Arabia) being the latest and most advanced AI robot. She graced GITEX 2018 last year, with her presence.

In the last few years, scientists have made some solid breakthroughs in “machine learning” using neural networks. It’s a type of “deep learning” that allows machines to process information by themselves on a very sophisticated level.

AI is going to be a disruptive technology that will change the face of virtually infinite industries and services. GITEX is also keen on giving its two cents on AI with many conferences and discussion panels specially dedicated to AI.

VR/AR/MR

VR/AR has been a very important invention of modern time; the post oculus time of AR/VR has shown the most growth.

Any type of digital correction or enhancement made to the reality we view using technology will be a part of this vertical.

These enhancements are done in 4 ways:

  • Virtual Reality (VR)
  • Augmented Reality (AR)

  • Mixed Reality (MR)
  • Extended Reality (ER)

Virtual Reality (VR)

The most established and naturally immersive experience of this technology comes from Virtual Reality (VR) integration. The user needs to wear special headgear, which gives you a feel similar to a personal movie theatre in which you can watch videos and play VR integrated games.

Augmented Reality (AR)

Moving a step ahead, comes Augmented Reality (AR); this technology uses real-world environments and adds digital objects into them. You can view these digital objects from your mobile devices.

Mixed Reality (MR)

Next comes, Mixed Reality (MR), just as the name suggests this technology is a mixture of AR and VR. Many people confuse MR with AR, but there is a very large and amazing difference between the two. The digital image or object can be seen in partial sections because the digital objects are more aware of what exists in the real world, hence able to represent true mixed reality.

For instance, if AR can show you an artificial jumping dog (let’s call the dog “Oreo”). Now, Oreo can only stand on tabletops and on the floor where we can see its entire body. Whereas in Mixed Reality (MR), Oreo can interact with objects of the real world in a more advanced way like hiding behind the sofa, or peeking from beneath your work table.

This app craze began with Pokémon Go in 2016, and it’s still going strong. Besides gaming apps, this technology is a great help in educational apps from kindergarten to college. Medical students can study human anatomy with just a smartphone, without a live model or any other set up.

This technology will make education remote and portable so that it can reach every child in the world. GITEX Dubai 2019 will witness a very high rise in apps that are built using AR, VR, and MR.

Blockchain

Blockchain is mainly used as the prime technology behind cryptocurrency, but it is more than just a digital money system. It serves as a bookkeeping platform or a ledger that is absolutely incorruptible, completely transparent, and bypasses all censorship.

So this instrument of technology can be the perfect platform for money handling in the future. Blockchain is the money system of the future, and the currencies of the future are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, etc.

Blockchain could be the strongest weapon against corruption. With an uncompromisable ledger, Blockchain can be used to improve government efficiency, preventing voter frauds by creating an unhackable electronic vote-counting system. It would work in the same way as it works as a public ledger for cryptocurrencies.

The 39th GITEX Technology Week wants its visitors to “Synergising the Mind and Technology Economy,” and what better tool to do so than Blockchain.

It’s obvious that the future is incomplete without discovering the infinite possibilities of Blockchain. There are going to be conferences and sessions, especially to discuss the usability of Blockchain in various industries.

IoT for Smart Homes & Offices

Life has become so convenient since the invention of smartphones. This one device has become our phone, camera, computer, and a million more things. Now just imagine what if your entire house becomes as smart as your phone.

Smart Home Solutions

What if your coffee maker is connected with your alarm and when you hit your alarm the coffee maker is given the command to brew coffee. Further, your bathroom geyser is sent a message to start heating the water for the shower.

It all seems like a dream, but it’s absolutely possible, and all of this is possible because of IoT (Internet of Things). IoT has already become a conventional technology with a widespread application, but it won’t take long to reach every home in the world.

Smart Office Solutions

The same goes for smart offices, with voice-enabled IoT devices like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomePod; the future assistants are more efficient than ever.

You can set up meetings, ask for company stats, place reminders, buy office supplies, and do many other things just with a single voice command.

After GITEX Technology week 2019, these smart home and office trends will become a coveted luxury for the majority of people. You can observe your home from anywhere with security systems that can be connected to your phones through an app.
