About the Project & Business Goal
FerMD is a McAllen-headquartered telemedicine & connected-care platform serving the Rio Grande Valley across the South Texas region, comprising communities of McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, Brownsville, and beyond. The goal was to never build simply a telemedicine app, but to build a telemedicine marketplace platform that unifies every step of the patient care journey, starting from virtual consultations & specialist referrals to laboratory work, imaging, & prescriptions under one smart platform. We developed a complete ecosystem including patient apps, provider portals, conversational AI, Fast Pass same-day matching, automated prescription routing process, & live technician tracking status to simplify healthcare delivery.

Our Solution for FerMD
Each and every engineering decision for this telemedicine marketplace platform served one focused purpose goal; helping patients to have the right accessibility at the right time with proper matching needs. We actually developed a conversational AI with PHI redaction prior to every external modal call & strict clinical guardrails that prevent diagnosis or prescription advice. There is automatic escalation of acute symptoms to clinicians, ensuring safe symptom guidance.
Developed Fast Pass as a deterministic matching engine utilizing zip codes, symptom selection, provider availability & location instead of AI-suggested decisions. Same-day appointment matching remains explainable, auditable, predictable & aligned with clinical processes.
Embedded HIPAA technical safeguards are integrated into the platform with mandatory PIN authentication, automatic inactivity lockout, AES-256 encryption, TLS 3.0, append-only audit logging & AWS KMS-backed key setup, safeguarding PHI across patient interactions.
Built an event-driven clinical workflow system that is able to connect each stage of patient care. Patient care is also improved by integration of automatic lab orders, prescription reminders & follow up actions, thus reducing the manual coordination across providers.
Integrated an automated prescription routing system with live pharmacy inventory cross referring to identify nearby pharmacies with medications. The prescriptions are secured, while the automated SMS associated with them guides patients through secure app links.
We implemented real-time technician tracking utilizing a secure session-based location streaming mode, thus allowing all patients to have a view of technician routes & ETAs. Also, there is maintenance of strict data isolation that actually ensures only assigned visits remain visible.
